Backyard Hen Licence Application

A Hen Licence is required for keeping Backyard Hens in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) and is valid from May 1 to April 30 of the following year. Please complete the following form, and provide supporting documents. Payment must be made before the application will be approved. The maximum file upload size for all files combined is 40 MB.

2. Certificate of Title

Attached is a copy of the Certificate of Title for the subject property and is not more than two (2) weeks prior to the date of this application.

3. Owner Authorization

I am the registered owner of the subject property.

I am not the registered owner of the subject property and attached is a copy of the authorization from the registered owner of the subject property.

4. Site Information

5. Premises Identification Program (PID)

Once the applicant has met all the requirements pertaining to the lots size, coop setbacks, they may apply for a Premises Identification Program from Alberta Agricultural & Forestry (PID) application. Failure to provide the PID number to Bylaw Services could result in revocation of the license.

6. Hen Keeping Training

It is required that the applicate successfully complete hen keeping training and provide supporting documents.

7. Terms and Conditions

I have read and agree to comply with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) Backyard Hen Bylaw 21/006

I understand that the RMWB may refuse to issue or renew a Backyard Hen Licence due to the submission of false information, incomplete Backyard Hen Licence application, known offense involving abuse, mistreatment, or negligent treatment of keeping of animals, or non-compliance with municipal and provincial legislation.

I understand that failure to abide by all requirements of the Backyard Hen Bylaw 21/006 and the Animal Health Act may result in the Backyard Hen Licence being revoked.

I understand that a Licence must be renewed annually.

It is an offence to provide false information under Section 10 of the RMWB Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw 19/025. This personal information is collected under the authority of Section 33(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (Alberta). It will be used in the RMWB for bylaw enforcement purposes and shared with outside organizations for the purpose of reuniting lost pets with owners.
